RETRO-ILLUMNIATION



When the pupil is dilated, 
retro-illumnation can give a red 
reflex against which corneal 
defects can be easily seen.  The 
beam is passed through the 
periphery of the pupil.  This 
photo shows an area of localized 
corneal edema in 
retro-illumination.
